I posted a few weeks ago about a stripped mixture screw head. Well, I had to let my brother-in-law take it to the automotive/machine shop where he works to get it out. He ended up having to cut part of the recess off, and the threads were also messed up from me trying to get the screw out. Now I have a new screw, which took the suzuki dealer 2 weeks to get...and it bottoms out, but the threads are too screwed up to cach it. Even when bottomed out, all but a few threads of the threaded portion are sticking out of the hole, since the recess is gone. What he said we should try, is to push the screw in untill it bottoms out, spread JB weld over the entire threaded portion of the screw, and let it dry. He says that when it dries, I will be able to back out the screw a few turns, and it will cut threads in the JB weld. Once it is backed out a few turns, he said it would be ok if I left it alone. He has done it on a few car carbs, so hopefully it will work out ok. By the way, the new mixture screw was still brass, although I thought I read on another post that the new one was made of steel. I'll post tomorrow night as to whether or not it worked.
